                        OWL

They found a beheaded owl in the meadow

The two angels who lived here before us.

How do the animals speak to us: in signs

In their memory of forever

They appear when you are most distracted

Telling your lover of your morning dream

Then you hear that call, that too near coin

And look up into what only seems to seem

Oh bright eyed owl you are the vowel

Of your limbic world: the feathered cat

As in the air at night you prowl

Knowing all that is both fair and foul

Issis and Athena know you for sight

Of things unseen, the dusk and dawn light.
